a little about me:
if you 're here, you know how to spell my name. i'm erik ribeiro, born in the burbs of L.A. back in '74. moved to texas when i was 3 & it's been home ever since. i am and will always be a texan at heart. houston will always be my home, even if i have to move somewhere else. that said, you might be wondering about my background. dad's goan (southwest coast of india) by way of tanzania & kenya. his first language was swahili with a smattering of makonde & chaga. mom's from the philippines. that makes me a mutt. everybody loves a mutt.

so what have i done with my life? not enough in my book. i'm always busy trying to correct that. i spent 15+ years jumping between 3D modeling & animation, to video production & editing, to motion and broadcast design. i'm a creative soul, so it was a shock to some that i switched careers last year, entering the engineering universe first as an electrical designer in training. i help other designers and engineers design & power oil, gas or chemical facilities. it's very satisfying and challenging, but totally different than TV. so why would i switch? i was feeling burned out & decided i needed to save my creative energy for my own projects: animations & writing & recording music.

if you know me personally, you know i'm a big beer geek and major foodie. i wouldn't dare call myself a chef, though i thought long and hard about a career in food for years. i like the way my friend jeff described me the other day to his friend. he called me a "tinkerer." my friend jimmy used to tell me that i can't leave well enough alone. i got into DJing because i couldn't just listen to music, i had to reassemble it and modify it. my latest endeavor is assembling electronic modules for my slowly growing modular synthesizer.
